Question question about LMV

ok. so i was installing ubuntu 10.10 and was shown this:

| **********************UBUNTU 10.10 (Maverick) Server Setup********************* |
| ______________________________________________________________________________ *|
| |-----------------------------| Partition Setup |-----------------------------| |
| | -------------- Please select the size for the Logical Volume -------------- | |
| |=============================================================================| |
| | ------------ Note: Logical Volume management allows you to expand your ---- | |
| | -------- available disk space as more space is needed. You can expand ----- | |
| | -------- your logical volume to use other partitions, unused disk space, -- | |
| | -------- or new physical drives. Regardless of the diffferant ------------- | |
| | -------- partitions or drives, LVM allows the total amount of space ------- | |
| | -------- to be treated as one large partition. ---------------------------- | |
| |=============================================================================| |
| | -------------- Hint: You may use the minimum (334Gbt) which is 0% or you--- | |
| | -------- can use the maximum (999.9Gbt) for your logical volume. You ------ | |
| | -------- may also specify a percentage of the total HDD space(Ex: 20%) ---- | |
| | -------- to specify how much space LVM should use as compared to the ------ | |
| | -------- total amount of available disk space. You can also type 'max'----- | |
| | -------- to instruct LVM to use all available disk space. ----------------- | |
| |=============================================================================| |
| | --|LVM size:_999.9 Gb__________________________________________________| -- | |
| |=============================================================================| |
| |---------------|_Go Back_|-------------------------|_Continue_|--------------| |
| |_____________________________________________________________________________| |
|_________________________________________________________________________________|

Does this mean i am inputing the size of the initial parrtion or the max size that it can expand to?

Thanks,
JL Griffin

The initial. You can always add more drives/space later.

Thank you! i have searched high and low and couldnt find an answer for this. I kind of thought that, but i was confused because of how it was worded in that prompt. so i just put 'max' into that field. Most likely I was simply overthinking the situation, but regardless, thank you for the answer. I will use this knowledge for future installs.

Thanx
