I have read other message about why Quake 1 won't run on the new Linux's but I want to know where can I get an RPM for Quake 1/ 2/ 3 for Redhat or anyother flavor (if possible)
I currently have the files from IDs site and they don't work under Redhat 7.2
I get told, with Quake 1, that the file does not exist - I can see it and everything (It is setup just like the driections said)
With an older version of Linux it works fine, but this new version (RedHat 7.2) - I get told the file does not exist.
Quake2 has worked just fine (for the most part) - I haven't tested quake 3 yet (its a slow machine =)
Which file doesn't exist? The binary executable? Or something that it tries to load?
If its the main program then perhaps it isn't in your $PATH, or perhaps you are not using the correct case. Try cding to the directory with the program in it and running it with ./filename
Also check the permissions to make sure that the file is marked as executable.
>Which file doesn't exist? The binary executable? Or something >that it tries to load?
the binary executable, but it is right there in front of me './quake', './quake.x11', './squake'
It is the right case (all lowercase) and I am in the directory when I try and run it...

I followed the readme, if that doesn't mark it as executible, then I don't know how. Could you give a demonstration?
I have used a howto - to the 'T', but its missing something for redhat 7.2 (quake 2 runs fine, a bit sluggish though =)
maybe the setting to a binary executable (I'm hoping)
=)
That "file not found" thing sounds to me like an incompatibility between the version of libc installed on your machine, and the one which was used to build the quake binary....
