I am currently running a p 3 800 mhz with 512 of SDRAM a geforce 3 elsa on a 20 gig partition with RH7.2.
I seem to have the same problem when i use wine for games as when i play quake 3.
When i start the quake 3 game instead of going full screen it sits in the lower left had corner ... and yes i have the game set to play in full screen mode. also i have my nivida drivers correctly loaded. the game plays fine but .. it isnt fullscreen ? can some one help me with this issue
some distros dont auto-scale the x window very well in order to resize it when a game starts. i think the major test is this. have you a server conifured to run in like 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, and higher if you like. now run in one of these resolutions. then from the graphical desktop, run the quake3 game, and set it up to run at the same res as your desktop. then restart the game. if you game is now fullscreen, then i think it is your x configuration. conversely, run at a resolution, then if you game res is different to that of x, and thus it is not fullscreen, resize x by using the magic ctrl+alt+ numberpad+/- keys. resize it until the game window fits snugly into the available x space.
sorry i cant give a more permanent fix, but i never found one. some distros/configs, just do it automatically, others do not.

anyway... yeah, like he said, but also it's posibly as you've not defined the mode specifically in /etc/X11/XF86Config(-4). you have to list all the possilbe modes in to screen section in order to be able to make that mode full screen, otherwise... bottom corner. I just got that same thing this morning on quake.. working prerfectly now.
I figured the problem out. bluecadet hit the nail on the head my XF86Config-4 file didnt have the screen res. listed so it was comming out all funky. this was easily fixed by running Xconfigure just incase anyone else had this prob.

Its too late becuase my Mandrake 8.1 is BROKEN (read my other post) from installing Quake3..damn
I would say there is almost no way in the world mandrake 8.1 is broken because you installed quake3. mandrake 8.1 is broken because you did something stupid to break and it you dont know what you did.
Seriously, not trying to offend you but your computer did not break it, nor did quake3.
