Unhappy ps command causes Signal 17

For some reason when I run the ps command from certain directories, I will get the following error message:

"Signal 17 caught by ps (procps version 2.0.7).
Please end bug reports to <procps-bugs@redhat.com>"

I did notice that the command seems to run fine from the /var/log directory.

I am running RedHat Linux 7.0.
