Im using Slackware 10 on 2.4.27 (soon to be latest). Im hoping this is a fairly simple problem which I cant seem to get my head round.

Our college uses a router as the gateway which is 10.12.112.1. We however for internet access use a proxy which is proxy.myisp.com. I am unable to get internet access on the command prompt because I dont know where to put this proxy information.

I can however when using a GUI use a web browser as I am able to put in proxy information.

My question: Does anybody know where/if I can enter proxy information into a file for terminal connections (eg ssh, telnet etc).

the values for http-proxy you can edit in your webbrowser...as you said
but, for ssh you normally only need the gateway addess which is set in you network config
(/etc/sysconfig/network). -> not sure if it is the same under slackware?
