Proxy for file server?

Hi guys,

I am gathering requirements for a project, that needs some huge amount of storage space for archival of media.. estimated up till 3TB and more a year!

I am now exploring options and one main consideration is using NFS to access the files. But I was thinking.. are there any linux solutions that allows access to NFS storage via proxy, such that I can speed up access and not load the file server itself...

thanks guys!
