Protector.tar.gz

Hello! I signed up for this because of a problem I'm having with installing Gentoo 2004.3.

I've installed Linux before (namely Fedora Core 3, Slackware 10, and Mandrake), but there wasn't too much involved with setting up. But I wanted to try Gentoo 2004.3 stage 1 because of the customization options and portage's extensive package list (I enjoyed Fink on Mac OS X). Well, being that Gentoo guides you step by step, it hasn't been a problem so far, except for now:

I'm at the step where I fetch the source code for the bootstrap:

Code:
scripts/bootstrap.sh -f
I followed everything step by step in the Gentoo Handbook, yet when I'm fetching the source code, it starts to work until it tries to get protector.tar.gz, at which point it goes to several mirrors. Each one it says it connects to, but when it goes to protector, it gives me a bunch of 404 errors and therefore doesn't continue. Obviously, if I try to run bootstrap.sh anyway, it goes for a while but aborts when it needs protector.

Can anyone tell me where I went wrong or how to fix it?
