Hi group,
Anyone know of a program that I can use to show me how the different modules are called within the kernel?? I other word, the kernel starts in main.c, what are all of the calls before it calls init??

How can I find that out too? That would be neat to find out. Have you tried to turn on the kernel debugging option? It is a kernel parameter.

I tried that but it did not show what I wanted. What I want is some kind of flow charter program.

Someone once wrote such a program -- it closely monitored the Linux kernel and logged each and every call it executed. But when he first ran it, the first time the kernel executed a call, it first called the monitor routine, but that call caused a call to the monitor routine to log the fact that the monitor routine was called. But that call caused a call to the monitor routine, which cased a call .... ad infinitum.

You may be able to get what you want from /var/log/messages.
