program freezes when viewing mnt directory

sup im pretty new to linux, and for the past 4 days i've been trying to learn how to connect to my shared folder on my windows machine using samba. i read that i should create a directory in /mnt/ first and mount the shared folder to that directory. however, everytime i open up mnt in konqueror, konqueror freezes. whats going on??

im using mandrake 9.1 and kde

thanks in advance

can you access it correctly via a console?

Code:
[user@linux user]$ ls /mnt
i'd *thnk* that maybe you've got supermount or somethign like that set u pfor you in /etc/fstab, feel free to post the contents of the file.

yes i can view it in console, but is there a way to fix this?

this is the content of fstab:

/dev/hda1 / ext3 noatime 1 1
none /dev/pts devpts mode=0620 0 0
/dev/hda6 /home ext3 noatime 1 2
none /mnt/cdrom supermount dev=/dev/hdc,fs=auto,ro,--,iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=850,umask=0 0 0
none /mnt/floppy supermount dev=/dev/fd0,fs=auto,--,iocharset=iso8859-1,sync,codepage=850,umask=0 0 0
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
/dev/hda5 swap swap defaults 0 0

btw i have no idea what any of the above means =\
