Processes not services

I read some posts were ppl say to turn of ur unnecesary services, but I have noticed that I don't have a lot of them on, yet still I have a lot of processes running and using up my ram, and most processes are not listed under services, which I viewed through System monitor on my fc6 running gnome.

How can I get rid of these processes so they wont start up, because 90% of my ram is in use, which is bad for performance.

Is there a guide somewhere online about all these things or all i can do is end process on each one i dont think i need?

try "netstat -npl" to see what internet services are running
and turn off ones u don't use...

about:

i think that
Linux is cashing processes not used at the moment to ram so it will always be full...
