Question

Hi! I am using SuSE 7.1 and I would like to turn off all process except I really need to use. Now I type ps -aux in console and I found that some process what are they doing. The process is [kflushd], [kupdate], [kswapd], [mdrecoveryd], [khubd] and usbmgr. If I don't want to this process when I reboot again, which file can I modify? I already check the /etc/rc.config, /etc/SuSEconfig, /etc/boot.

Thanks and Regards,

I am not too familiar with SuSe but have you checked your inittab file and I think most others are the rc.d or rc3.d files to edit startup processes. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

you want to stay away from any process that begins with a 'K' the kde desktop opens a lot of processes just to be functional

i use suse and the safest way >IMHO< to change anything is to use yast2
