/proc/bus/usb busy

My box is a 9.1 Mandrake p111, 196 mg ram
In 9.0 I was able to run jphoto with my Kodax DX3900 camera - but 9.1
gives me the following start up message
When I start jphoto ./jphoto, it clears the terminal & takes me back to
the terminal again.
He is the start up message:

> Sep 4 10:47:05 localhost mount: mount: usb already mounted or /proc/bus/usb busy
>
> Sep 4 10:47:05 localhost mount: mount: according to mtab, none is already mounted on /proc/bus/usb
>
> Sep 4 10:47:05 localhost rc.sysinit: Mounting local filesystems: failed
>
> Sep 4 10:47:05 localhost rc.sysinit: Mounting loopback filesystems: succeeded

Here is a copy of my mtab

looks like your mtab is stale. i would have thought mandrake would have cleared it every reboot but nevermind. check if your /etc/mtab is a symbolic link to /proc/mounts(ls -l /etc/mtab) if it isnt then switch to runlevel 1 then delete and remake /etc/mtab.

Thanks kev82 for the fast reply

I switched to runlevel1 & used Midnight Commander to delete the mtab file & re-entered it saved it, back to runlevel5 - rebooted

The same error message showed & jphoto won't go past a terminal window

I'll keep reading, maybe someone else may find the same problem along their adventures & come up with a solution

Thanks again kev82
