Problems with XFree86 on a Dell Inspiron 8000
 

I'm running a Dell Inspiron 8000 w/ an ATI Mobility M4 on Gentoo with a 2.6.8 vanilla kernel.

I just finished emerging xfree and I ran /usr/X11R6/bin/X -configure and then ran /usr/X11R6/bin/XFree86 -xf86config /root/XF86config.new and the screen goes black for a second but it fails and gives me the ouput:

(EE) R128(0): No valid modes found /* seen after it was trying to load anyof the screen resolution modes in the pool */

(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.

Fatal server error:
no screens found

After analyzing the /var/log file and the output dumped from server crash I've found its a problem with the hsync values they are out of range for the default confiuration my file supplies, I'm not sure really what they should then be or how to go about changing them.

If need be I can allways include the entire /var/log if someone feels they need that to diagnose the problem but something tells me its simpler then that. If any more information is needed please
let just let me know.

I have an Inspiron 8000 with the ATI M4 graphics (I'm writing this on it now). My default display is 1400x1050. I run Debian Sid on it. The Debian installer had problems setting the display configuration (the "stick" mouse wouldn't work), but Libranet creates a usable configuration file, so I just used that. I know it is long, but since we have the same computer here is my XF86Config-4 file:
