Problems shutting down and restarting

Every time I start linux it says it wasn't cleanly unmounted and I have to wait for it to scan the whole thing, really annoying! I tried doing a manual shutdown rather than gui... "shutdown now". It had the same effect. I am using SuSE linux 7.3, if anyone has any ideas please help.

You might try resetting your max-mount-counts and intervals using the 'tune2fs -c' and -i options.. typically these should be around 25. Maybe yours got changed to 0 somehow.

That would produce a max mount count message.

this seems to be an issue with suse's scripts, not the first time I saw this.

Redhat 7.2 uses a file named .autofsck to tell if the shutdown was ok.
