Problems installing

My problem is this:

I had Mandrake 9.1 installed. It worked fine until I upgraded my motherboard and RAM.. And installed a DVD-RW. What would happen is that after I chose Linux at the Lilo menu, the screen would go blank and there would be no activity. This would be the case for more than a minute forcing me to reboot.

I then decided to re-install Mandrake. However when I boot from the CD and choose the option to upgrade or install a new Mandrake installation, the same blankness happens.

Any ideas how I can go about re-installing?

Jongi; recheck hardware installation. maybe something amiss. suggest a
double check on all hardware installs.

When I run WinXP there are no hardware problems reported so is it still likely to be a hardware issue?

Mandrake

May I strongly recommend you get hold of Mandrake 10. It is free to download and the ISO's are quite easy to get holf of. Otherwise even the Mandrake 10 Community would suffice.

Mandrake 10 has many improvements over 9.1.

If you can't do this, try installing with a normal CD/DVD drive and see if that helps.

Let us know how it goes.
