Unhappy Problem with partitions

So i have a little problem with my partitions... I got a S-ATA hard disc and I got few partitions on it.

sda1 (windows) (ntfs) (30gb)
sda2 (extended)
sda5 (some files) (ntfs) (140gb)
sda8 (swap) (4gb)
sda7 (ubuntu) (6gb)
sda6 (formated) (10gb)

And i'd like to format some of them (example WIN partition) and 'paste' the free space from em to the ubuntu partition. But the problem is that i dont know how to do that because i havent found any good partition softwares for linux... i got only 3gb left anymore on ubuntu part and i'd like to install some games and stuff there but space runs out

So pls gimme some advice to format those partitions and add more space for my ubuntu

Look into cfdisk, it is fairly userfriendly.
Most of the time if the partition scheme is badly planned it is very hard to reorganize it without losing files or simply having to start over. If you remove the Windows partition, all that means is that you have 30gb of empty space at the front of your drive, you can't exactly "shift" everything down and just put that empty space wherever you want.

Well, you're partition scheme is not the best one, but I have "one" suggestion.
1) format /dev/sda1 as ReiserFS/Ext2/3;
2) add such entry into your /etc/fstab
Code:
/dev/sda1 /usr/local reiserfs (or ext3, or ext2) defaults 1 2
Now reboot and you will have 30G more in your /usr/local.
Since most user programs are installed into /usr/local, you'll be fine.
And install apps this way:
Code:
./configure --prefix=/usr/local
make
make install
