Problem with hdd


When i boot some linux(Slackware,BSD etc.) and continue with installing it and write cfdisk it give me No rights to write.I have Win XP and i make a partition - 5GB for the Linux.The pc is
Intel D820 2.8Ghz
1GB ram A-data 667
Foxconn i945P Deluxe
Gainward nVidia 6600GT

Just a quick thought, in slackware, my cdrom disks are hdc and dvd is hdd. Could you be trying to create a partition to these instead of a hard disk?
I am not intending to insult you with this question. But a better understanding of your hard disk layout would be beneficial.
