I have forget my linux root password. i am following the below procedure to change it but facing problem.

In GRUB, hitting 'e", then selecting the "kernel" line, hitting "e" again, and adding " single" to the end of the line. Pressing ENTER, and then "b" to boot.

But after booting it is giving me following error.

mount : error 2 mounting ext3
pivotroot : pivot_root (/sysroot, /sysroot/initrd) failed:2
umount /initrd/proc failed :2
freeing unused kernel memory : 128k freed
