Problem viewing dvd's

Hi.
I'm using totem to watch dvd's. I have a problem. When I play some dvd's I get black stripes on some of the sides. For example when I started a movie there was a black stripe on the left side of the picture and on the under side of it. I also get some kind of thin vertica stripe that gets distorted on the far edges. From top to bottom and it is a bit hard to describe exactly what it looks like, but distorted. I ahve also tried mplayer but get the same problem with it.

It seems that I get this with movies that it says anamorphic widescreen on. I am using a Geforce fx 5200 and nvidias drivers for this, 8178.

Is there someone that can help? What is it that's wrong?

I would have to see more about what packages you are using, etc, to even guess, but I would suggest dumping totem. www.xine.org and a lot of people like mplayer (esp those who love Apple Quick time format).. Make sure with xine you install the libdvdcss or whatever (on the bottom of the download page) or DVDs wont play...

Thats illegal in some countries so make sure you check with your local mafia first.
