is that the complete error message ?

Once i had a problem ssh into a server that was running a boot cd KNOPPIX. the problem is, everytime you use SSH an encryption keypair is created, but after re-booting knoppix, it had to re-generate a new encryption key. the client noticed that the servers key had changed and refused to connect.

could it be that you re-installed the server's OS ?

anyway. try making a backup of the clients $HOME/.ssh folder. copy it to $HOME/.sshBACKUP and try to connect again.
