Problem creating tar.gz archive - File changed as we read it

I archive our files at work by making a tar.gz file. While it's going I get this output in my terminal:

tar: animal/63/118.jpg: file changed as we read it
tar: animal/79/62.jpg: file changed as we read it
tar: animal/467/65.jpg: file changed as we read it
tar: animal/292/81.jpg: file changed as we read it
tar: animal/60/83.jpg: file changed as we read it
tar: animal/387/94.jpg: file changed as we read it
....etc.........

Should I be worried. The files in question are shared across our network but I am the only person here and there is definately nobody else accessing them. Our internet connection was also off at the time.

Are my files corrupt?

Thanks

My understanding is that smbfs "opens" the file
for reading, and thus during the backup changes
the access-time which tar then interprets as a
modification of the file. If you can verify that the
two files (the original and the one in the archive)
have identical contents (md5sum) you can just
ignore the "error".

Cheers,
Tink
