Printing from lpr to plain text

HEllo,

I'm using REd Hat 7.1

I want to print any document to plain text through 'lpr' into a file. (I do not have a real priter installed).

Any suggestions ?

Best Regards,

Ahsan

What application are you printing from? e.g. there's no point printing a plain text file into another plain text file. ;)

A lot of apps let you print to a postscript file - you can you something like pstotext to convert to a different format, or use gnome-gv or something to view the postscript file.

Hm

Thanks danrees, I already tried that. But what about PDF files ? Let's say I view a pdf file in xpdf, and I print it to a ps and then convert it to plain text (or print to plain text directly). But xpdf doesn't have an such option. It prints through lpr. That's why I want a printer driver. :)

What do you think ?
