Printer alias does not work

I am running linux 2.6.9-34.0.2. One remote printer(test) has been configured on this box which worked perfect.

Now i have configured alias also using setup-->printer configuration by name vk1.In setup it shows alias, but in printcap i don't see any entry for alias. Also when i try to print using alias it gave error :

# lpr -Pvk1 < /etc/motd
lpr: error - unable to print file: client-error-not-found

Any suggestion what's wrong here ??
