Prevent windows from auto-raising?

Hi,

is there a way to prevent windows from auto-raising themselves (i.e. without clicking them first). I have an application that raises itself to the top when it expects some kind of input. This is really annoying, because it steals my focus every time. The application doesn't have an inbuilt option to disable this.

I'm using (X)ubuntu/Compiz.

Thanks in advance.

That's a matter of your window manager - with what exactly do you run Compiz?

And some (rare) applications have to configured themselves - gaim/pidgin for example has some option for popping up annoying message windows if someone pings you.

My window manager is Compiz itself (does compiz run together with other WMs?).

Yes, I know that an application can pop its own windows up. But this program is an in-house one and the responsible bureau told me, that such an option does not exist... yet.

Any other idea how to accomplish this?

Thanks for your time.
