Unhappy Pop3/imap

Okay, I managed to get to the point where I only need to get the POP3/IMAP server. I tried this myself and fucked the install and had to reinstall the entire OS. So if anybody out there got any ideas or can help me please feel free to reply. Thank you!

Wtf? What are you trying to do or is this to test our mind reading skills? Come off it and be a tad more descriptive.

WTF? How more descriptive can I be...If I said I tried installing POP3/IMAP myself and fucked up the server, then thats all I can tell you. I tried installing Cyrus, Qpopper & Dovecot and ended up messing up the damn thing. I didnt install them at the same time but when I got to the point it was giving errors I stopped and moved on to the next one I knew in my mind that existed....So therefore I need somebody to just please login to my server and make sure my mail servers get installed correctly please. I would greatly appreciate any and all help. I am starting to get really fustrated.

Well, your first post didnt give much info away, and your second was a little better, atleast you tried telling us what you installed.

What you are missing is what documentation you have followed, which bits you get stuck on, which bits you dont understand, errors yo ueoncountered, strange prblems.

basically anything that will help people to diagnose the problem.

"So therefore I need somebody to just please login to my server and make sure my mail servers get installed correctly please. I would greatly appreciate any and all help. I am starting to get really fustrated."

I hope this is a joke? if not and you want something like that, i would suggest paid support.

I understand how frustrating things can get but the best thing is to do is chill out, do something else, clear your mind and approach from a different angle with rational thinking, or things will just get worse

Assuming your using Fedora to do this all you need to do is install the dovecot rpm and edit the /etc/dovecot.conf file.

Add a line in the configuration that reads:

protocols = imap pop3

save it then start dovecot:

service dovecot start

make sure that ports 110 and 143 are open in your firewall.

iptables -I INPUT -m tcp -p tcp --dport 110 -j ACCEPT
iptables -I INPUT -m tcp -p tcp --dport 143 -j ACCEPT

Hope that helps.
