playing audio cd 5.1
i have recently bougth a 5.1 soundcard and speakersystem. when i play an audio cd on windows, i can choose if i want to use 2, 2+subwoover, 4 or 5+subwoover speakers. when i play an audio cd from linux, most players only use the 2 front speakers, which is realy bad, because these speakers aren't meant to be used without the subwoover and thus realy sound weak without one. with alsaplayer i could choose using 4 speakers, but than the front speaker and the subwoover played the same audio stream with a lot of cracking noise.
so right now i can't play music when using linux.
does anyone know a solution for this?
my soundcard is an hercules muse 5.1 dvd which uses the CMI-8738-LX sound processor.
my linux distribution is suse 9.0.
