I've seen a few persons complain that all they wanted was a simple program and many of us have held back and not given anything, citing that the OP ought to try for their self.
If you have something ready that you can share, why not. But:

Well I am one of the "try'ers" and as a result, I'll Google for stuff "blah-blah-blah C example linux" and largely find what I want. OK some people don't do that, they go here.
I often see questions here, find them interesting, don't have an answer, launch Google and find an answer immediately, faster than typing the question into a forum post. This is great, I learn something this way. In such a case though, I really feel I should teach the OP how to find an answer quickly rather than spoon-feed them with the result.

Stepping down from my soapbox.
I don't totally disagree. It is a very simple program and further it shows an example, at least, as to what I consider to be a good method to do what they want, although there are many ways to accomplish things. So I'm teaching by example here. If the OP can't or won't just copy, compile, and run, and further if some or all of that is largely beyond their comprehension, then they have a lot farther to go beyond just getting a free code example. Also, if this really is a make or break on an assignment, or take home test, to me it's a whatever, because if the person puts in near zero effort then they really haven't learned anything and they're obviously not willing to learn. It will catch up with them at some point.
