PDF forces two-page mode or the source is to blame.

Hi:
To any user of kpdf or kghostview: I loaded a .pdf file (ruteUser_2up.pdf) but it seems to come edited in "two pages " format. I mean, every screen shows two consecutive pages of the book. When I choose View>Two Pages (kpdf) in the hope that it will toggle to one page, it does nothing.

Is there any way of seeing the book one page per screen? Thanks in advance.

It sounds to me like that's just the way the pdf was created (the very filename says "2up" after all). Most programs aren't smart enough to figure out that the content itself has more than one page per "page".

Probably the only thing you could do about it is to extract and edit the individual pages of the pdf itself.

No, not without editing the file to create a whole new pdf. The creators obviously wanted it to be in two page format. Maybe there is a ruteUser_1up.pdf file available.

kpdf 0.5.10:
View -> two pages toggles between one-page view and two-page view for me.

If this doesn't work for you take a look at ~/.kde/share/config/kpdfpartrc
You can edit ( remove the ViewColumns=2 line ), or just delete that file (it'll be recreated with the defaults).

Edit: too slow, "2up" is the likely answer /Edit

Well, thank you very much. Is there a pdf program with editing capabilities that is free of charge on the web?

One-page versions are available here:

I substituted ViewColumns=1 and shutdown KDE. I ran again startx, and... no use. Then again I shutdown KDE (or X) and deleted kpdfpartrc, ran startx and... no use. I'll try the link provided by David the H. Thanks very much.

Thanks. But don't thank me, thank Google. A couple of minutes of searching brought it up. ;)
