PCMCIA problem, plz help!

Hi there,

Distribution: Slackware 9.1
Computer: Dell Inspiron 8100

When entering linux, my computer just freezes on this test:

cardmgr[57]: watching 2 sockets
cs: IO port probe 0x0c00 - 0x0cff : clean
cs: IO port probe 0x0800 - 0x08ff: "and here is where it freezes"

This happens with and without the cardbus plugged in... I cant do anything cause i cant enter linux. I need some help plz!

I know there is a way to pass parameters to the kernel, so it doesnt perform this test, but i dont know which is it....

Hi,

I'll try to help out if only because of your obviously excellent musical taste. Hopefully a real Slackware user will come along and say something more definitive...

I believe the parameter 'nohotplug' should do the trick.

I don't know if your kernel has ACPI support but maybe you need it, or need to turn it off, or use a parameter like 'pci=noacpi' or 'noapic'. Sorry, guessing now. Will shut up.
