pcm volume keeps dropping to 50% [zenwalk]

every so often my pcm volume will drop to 50% all by itself, and i have to keep raising it back up, any ideas on how to fix it?

It could be that an application you are using is responsible for this happening.I know that Audacity can do it depending on how you have it set up.The volume control on XMMS is also connected to the PCM volume so it can change the volume too.Did you set up your default mixer levels with alsamixer and save them (as root ) with alsactl store?

thanks aTunes was the guilty one,
Managed to fix it by lifting up the volume to 100 from 50 from inside aTunes,

There must be a better way of controling the volume from one app than by changing the master pcm volume
