I've got a weird thing where if I set:
chown 604 passwd
it always comes back as 600 after a reboot.
Is there something somewhere in the rc files that sets the passwd file in /etc to ownership 600?
PS This manifests itself in:
I have no name!@computername
Seems to happen in Mandrake, RH and Slack!
Re: passwd permissions
grep "/etc/passwd" -R /etc/rc.d | grep chmod
