Partitioning with Windows...

I have found Linux to be a very good OS, however, there are still some vital programs on WinXP that I need to access. It gives me

xmnt2002 not found
(something else I can't remember) not found
skipping AUTOCHECK

[blue screen of death appears]

Fatal error, system has been shut down. An unexpected error has occured. [some weird code appears here like so] (00000000x0)

Does this mean that my XP partition has to be the active partition on the HDD to boot?? If it does, does that mean I have to switch the active partition every time I want to boot?? If this means that my XP partition is basically screwed, I am just going to delete that partition, make a new ext2 partition, and install FC4 on the new partition, and use my current ext2 partition as a Linux testing partition for other distros.

Thanks in advance,
chief

post reported for illegal bump

where is xp installed? you need to get your boot loader configured. if you are trying to access the partion from linux, you need to get special stuff... its a hassle - google ntfs + linux.

for boot loader (grub) checkout this link

(you don't need to bump your posts if they are counted as zero replies- people activly look for zero replies to respond to- and read the rules, you shouldn't bump within 24 hours.)

Actually LQ.org will auto bump any 0 replied threads automatically after every 16 and 32 hours respectively, so there should never be any need to bump your thread ever. If you don't recieve a response after 48 hours or so, don't bump it with just a "bump".. but perhaps provide more details or information of things you've tried or searched for cause I hope our members aren't sitting around waiting for answers when they could be doing their own research as well.. ;)
