partition w/o format


i have a 120gig hd, and linux on a POS 5 gig, i want to no how to partition my 120gig so i can put linux on it and do away with the 5 gig without having to format the 120 gig

Use fdisk to create the partions, and use mkfs.ext3 (or whichever filesystem type you like) to format them...

You need to be a bit more clear however, how do you plan to move your Linux to this new drive without formatting it? It is going to be neccesary to format at least enough to hold your 5GB linux system...

There's also a non-destructive dynamic partitionning tool : fips
Is quite easy to use and, if needed, affterwards you'll be able to format each created partition.

where is fips, is it in the install of rh8?
