Oracle 10g and java on Fedora eror code 17008

Hi All,
I am having my java program connected to Oracle 10g.When I try to run the code it gives ou this error
eroor code 17008
Exception in thread connection

When I ouput coonection.This displayed
So I assume the connection is not broken but program is not able to access the database.

Please advice

That error could be anything.. more details about your program would probably be helpful and I think questions like these might be more suitable in Programming.. let me know if you want me to move it.
