Hi everyone hope you can help me i'm striking out on this question all over...
I have Sendmail configured and working perfectly along with openldap 1.22...
No OpenLdap is resolving the address as I type in a name in the To: box and working great!
BUT what my question is... I'm converting a mail system from Microsoft Mail also tied to a Microsoft Exchange server over the WAN over to a Sendmail Server and replacing the MS mail local mail system.
I "Need" to present a Postoffice Address List /or Global Address List similar to MS mail or Exchange to the user when they hit the to: button... Ldap will search for the name but is there a way to auto display the ENTIRE LDAP directory when a person browses it?
Or is there a 3rd party program just for a Global Address List I could use in conjunction with ldap?
Launch Outlook Express. Click on Tools>Accounts>Add Directory Service. For “Internet Directory (LDAP) Server” enter the IP address of the Linux machine running the LDAP server. Select “yes” for check e-mail addresses. Click on Finish.
Next, click on Tools>Accounts>Directory Service and select the directory service (represented by the IP address that you have had entered for LDAP server). Click on Properties>Advanced. For the Search Base, enter the following.
dc=cmil,dc=com
or
o=cybermedia, dc=cmil,dc=cmil
If you want Outlook to search the LDAP directory and find e-mail addresses only for the employees in a particular department (say pcqlabs), enter the following for the search base.
ou=pcqlabs, o=cybermedia, dc=cmil,dc=cmil
Henceforth, whenever you send a mail, you can just try typing in the name of the person. Outlook Express should be able to resolve the e-mail address by contacting the LDAP server. You can also use the menu item Edit>Find>People. In the “Look In” drop-down list, select the directory service (represented by the IP address). Subsequently, you should be able to find the details of any employee using the search.
Yes, I got that part working good and the resolving of the name comes up fine etc...
But what I would like is for it to automatically display ALL names in the address book as soon as you hit TO: and it shows the entire LDAP directory similar to a Microsoft Mail postoffice address book or a exchange Global Address List.
Just wondering if uv been successfull on this hack? if uv hacked it, pliz post how u went round it - the auto listing of global addresses - coz am still drowning myself with literature on this.
