OpenGL Makes my System Crash

Hello there.
I am using Mandrake 8.0 with an Nvidia TNT graphics card. I installed the latest drivers for it from the Nvidia web site, but when I start a program using OpenGL, the whole system freezes (keyboard, mouse, display, etc.). XWindows and any other application that doesn't use OpenGL works fine, though. Any idea what is going on/how to fix it?
Thanks in advance,

did you re-run XFdrake after you installed the drivers? (was xfdrake included in 8.0?)

check your /etc/x11/xf86config file:
in the section module under "load freetype" enter load "glx" if load dri or glcore is present, remove them.

in the graphics device section, replace driver "nv" with driver "nvidia"

save and restart the x server.
