OpenGL jerky in fluxbox, but good in GNOME
 

When I run OpenGL progs in Fluxbox, it's smooth for about 2 or 3 seconds, then there's a little jerk, then back to normal. Doesn't sound too bad, but it gets annoying when play cube and stuff. Works perfectly in GNOME though! I'm a big fan of Fluxbox, and it would suck to have to constantly log out for OpenGL.

Any thoughts?

did you properly setup opengl? ... gnome sets some environment variables, and such, so perhaps it set something that you should set in fluxbox?

Thanks a lot for the reply. I'm not sure where to start to check settings in fluxbox...it's pretty minimalistic, so it doesn't have a lot of options. Where do you suggest I start?

wow, thats the first time that ever happened, sorry .. umm blame links, thats the browser im using ... (cuse i know i dident write it in 2 times)

anyways, altho fluxbox is minimalistic, it wont matter in this case, you want to configure programs external of fluxbox, like seting environment variables... wich can be done by executing the command "export VARIABLE_NAME="VARIABLES_STUFF"" ... wich (i think) can be done in fluxbox (i dont use it, so i dont know how to get it to run commands are startup) .. or theres also the way of seting it when your session manager starts up... (if you use Xsession.. (default for xdm) then its normally in ~/.xsessionrc .. or simular, unless someone changed it

Sweet. I know how to run commands on log-in with the fluxbox start up file. What environment variables should I possibly change? I noticed that the problem isn't as bad for a few minutes after I reboot. So I suppose my computer could have trouble handling FC2. However, if that was case, I guess it wouldn't work so well in GNOME, which should slow everything down....

i dont know what you need to set for your system, i would point you to get the environment varables under GNOME, and search to see if you find anything that might be of some use (open, gl, glx, video, ..etc)...

i know just plain "export" on the command line gives the environment variables, i think it gives them all your your user .. i think... maybe
