openGL in mplayer

I have GeForce4 Ti4400 and I installed nvidia drivers from their site (I know people say their drivers suck, but what other choice do I have) and I configured my XF86Config as the README said, and then compiled and installed mplayer, the problem is it doesn't work with opengl video output, it says something about glx not loading, even though I told it to load in XF86Config and I checked XF86Config.0.log and glx module seems to be loading there. And vesa output causes the colors to get screwed up, the resolution to change to like 400x600, the mouse pointer to turn into a square. Audio outputs are a bit weird too, oss worked on root first time I configured it, it didnt work on user at all, and when I came back to root it stopped working there too, I'm currently using arts, it seems to work fine. But my main problem is OpenGL support, everything else is secondary. Thanks.
