openbsd/linux compat

I've been told that in order to compile a lot of Linux-ready apps on OpenBSD, you need to have the "Linux" libraries. Can someone shed some more light on this, and experiences using OpenBSD to run their favorite Linux appz?
Also, what has anyone specifically seen when running IRCD-Hybrid, ProFTPD, and Apache?
