Open source DRM software

Hey Gang,

I was wondering if anyone knows of decent open source DRM software for PDF files for Windows. I did some searching and couldn't come up with anything. If anyone could offer anything I would be forever grateful.

Thanks,

Brandon

p.s. If the software is free or cheap, even better.

Isn't DRM and opensource an oxymoron? hahaha

Instead of using somekind of drm, why don't you password protect it or something like that?

I figured I would get that kind of response. The receiving audience for these files aren't that bright and aren't that adept with computers, much less programming. I need more options than just the security offered within Adobe Acrobat, I need something more. So, I'm open to any suggestions.

Thanks,

Brandon

well I actually work with a company and we offer drm solutions. but (very expensive and for multimedia).

DRM cannot be used with a pdf directly, the EXE for the file must use DRM to support it.
you'd need to encrypt a file which only a certian program can decrypt.

In what ways do you need to protect the pdf file?

It actually isn't for me, but for a friend. He doesn't want people to be able to print it, save it as something different, alter it, and he only wants the recipients of his email to be able to open it. Upon further research into Acrobat Professional, there is a way to achieve this. However, if there are other ways to do this with more security than Acrobat please let me know.

Thanks,

Brandon
