ooopsss,- Can't access my cd.drive and burner anymore...

I was trying to get some burning programs working, and was using the chmod-command on the following files:

/dev/scd0
/dev/sg
/devsg0

I think I typed chmod 666 on all those files,- and then chmod 777. Anyway,- now I can't access my cd-drives at all.

When I click on the cdRom or cdRom2 - icon on my desktop I get this message:

"Unable to enter file:/mnt/cdrom (or cdrom2).
You do not have access rights to this location."

I get this message when I'm logged in as root also.

Can anyone help me out with what to do to access my cd-drives again? I'm sure it's easy, but I'm new to linux....

EDIT: I fix'd it!??! I tryed to delete the thread but was not able to. Any moderators fell free to delete it.

Hey that's great that you fixed it, but it would be nice if you would say how.

Maybe other people will have the same problem and not know how to fix it.

Just an idea...

We don't delete threads as they help others that might have the same problem fix theirs as well. If you fixed it, we like it when you tell us how you fixed it.

Sorry about not explaining what made it work again. The thing is that it most likly was newer anything wrong with the cd-drives.

Well, I feel really stupid, but the problem was that I didn't have any cd in the drive.
As soon as I put in a cd, I can access the cd-drives.

When I try to access the drives when I don't have a cd in it, I get the error I mentioned in the first thread. I guess I was expecting something like "Cd-drive empty" or something...

Next time I will take some more time and try to figure out of the problem on my own before posting,- just that I paniced...
