Old Laptop - Which Linux version?
Hi there,
I've a very old laptop (Pentium 133). As I've found Linux superior to Windows (useless to mention on this forum ;->) I would like to install Linux to this oldie (now to worry, it's my secondary computer). Actually I would like to have both, Linux and Windows, on the same computer, as in the same household there is a person, who still prefers the most popular OS. Could someone please inform me: 1) which version of Linux could be suitable for my PC (can be also an "ancient" one as I've been thinking of using my laptop as a practice ground)? 2) From where could I get one (I would prefer a free, open source download)? 3) How could I choose at the beginning which OS to use (this one I had when I used to use DOS as some games needed more XMS ect.; but as years have passed...)? Thank you in advance, ursinus |
Slackware can do it. http://slackware.com/
If you dont want to partition you hard drive, you can install zipslack. http://slackware.com/zipslack/ Enjoy. |
What are your specs (RAM, hard drive space)? Damn Small Linux may be a good choice.

CRUX is ok, too, but it's a lot of work to install: http://www.crux.nu
