Odd download occurance..

Hi Everybody,

I was recently in the process of downloading the DVD iso's to install FC5. I have a fairly fast connection, so the entire 3.0gig download only took about three hours. However, at the very end of the download, a very strange thing occured which I have never seen before and resulted in an empty downloaded file. Frustrating, as you can imagine.

I am using firefox and the usually download screen was running. At the end of th download, the process seemed to immediately reverse itself and started counting backwards in negative numbers, as though it were actually removing what I had just downloaded. This process was extremely slow, and after watching it for about three or four minutes, I simply closed the box. I deleted all the downloaded files (which were empty anyway) and started over.

Has anything similar ever happened to anyone? Very strange.

Bob

Its probably a good idea to use a dedicated download manager such as wget, kget, gwget or d4x. In the past I found that many isos got corrupt if downloaded using Mozillla or Firefox.

Good idea on both counts. Never used Bittorrent or Kget, but I'll start now.

Thank you for your help and comments.
