Do you have the NVidia driver for Linux installed? Check in /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 in the "Device" section and see what is listed for "driver".

If it says anything other than "nvidia", you need to install NVidia drivers

Thanks for your reply,
Already done that, and have downloaded the nVidia .run file but when it tries to install it comes up with an error regarding OS version, ¨ no kernel interface¨ kernel-source not installed ?????????.

Looks like you don't have your kernel source installed. Check which kernel you have with
Code:
uname -r
and download the corresponding (exactly) kernel source. With Mandrake you should be able to do
Code:
urpmi kernel-source <kernel version>

Dear mdg,
I couldn´t quite get the gist of your advice, I assumed that you meant to do this in a terminal window as ´SU´ .

[root@localhost @#!$]# urpmi kernel-source 2.6.3-4mdk
The following packages contain 2.6.3-4mdk:
kernel-doc
kernel-source
[root@localhost dina]# urpmi kernel-source 2.6.3-4mdk

That's what I meant - as long as you're running kernel 2.6.3-4mdk
