ntfs backup script with linux
I need to back up several hundred employee's NTFS windows machines to a local network server. The name of each disk volume is the name of the employee.
Can I boot each computer with a linux boot disk, compress an image of the disk, and store it as the employee's name on the remote server?
Are there any special requirements the boot disk should have - (does samba need to be running to handle this task?)
Does anyone have a convenient script for such a process? I am running into problems with Ghost and was wondering if there was an easier Linux solution.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
