Not wanted dd of liveUSB

Hello

I needed a liveUSB, and I used de dd command. By mistake, I changed the letter of the device, and it started to write over a 2 TB external HDD formatted in ext3. When I realized and stopped it, it had written 100 Mb and the HDD was not well detected

I'd like to recover the info in the HDD, it's not really important (I would have made a backup if so), bud I'd like to.

Then, do you know how to recover data from a EXT3 system, that has been dd with a liveCD iso?

Thanks in advance

There are a pair of utilities called testdisk and photorec which may be useful in recovering data.

You can find out more here.

The parts that are overwritten are in fact unrecoverable, but Testdisk may be able to restore at least the partition table. Of course the filesystem in the first partition will be damged, but you can use Photorec to recover files and maybe fsck to at least restore parts of the file-system.

It took a full day working, but I could recover a lot of things. Thank you for your answers!
