Not sure about ntpq -pn output....

when I issue ntpq -pn I get this:
Code:

bash-2.05b# ntpq -pn
remote          refid      st t when poll reach  delay  offset  jitter
==============================================================================
 198.144.202.250 209.126.142.251  3 u    7  128    7  87.935  21.775  30.290
 204.87.183.6    216.152.68.16    2 u  10  128    7  84.664  36.758  39.492
 65.211.109.11  18.103.0.198    2 u    8  128    7  73.523  12.272  24.508
 209.162.205.202 204.123.2.5      2 u    5  128    7  115.325  36.149  37.170

Now, according to http://www.pool.ntp.org/#use there's supposed to be an asterisk at the beginning of one of those lines, but clearly there isn't one. Does that mean that something is messed up?

Yes, your ntpq output indicates that you have not successfully synched to a time server.

It would be useful to see the output of ntptrace.

You might also want to do a "ntpdate <server>" to force a synch to your chosen server (with the ntp service temporarily turned off), since ntp won't synch if there is too large a discrepancy between your local system's time and the server's time.

Okay, here's some of the stuff I've managed to salvage:

Code:

root@4300:/home/Rob# ntpdate pool.ntp.org
Looking for host pool.ntp.org and service ntp
host found : 80-28-46-78.adsl.nuria.telefonica-data.net

Okay, here's a fresh output:

Code:

Okay, I just turned the computer on, and here's my output for everything I did last night:
Code:

root@4300:/home/Rob# ntpq -pn

All of the other files related to ntp in /etc/ and /etc/ntp/ are empty.

What is at the 127.127.1.0 address that you have set for your server?

All times are GMT -5. The time now is 08:05 AM.
