"not running Gnome compliant windows manager" and a rhetorical question.

So ever since I installed RedHat 7.1 with all the basic defaults, I get this error message when booting into X: "Warning you are not running a Gnome compliant windows manager etc etc." And I have all sorts of troubles with it such that I have to reboot and hope it doesn't happen again.

After struggling with this again and again (it doesn't happen upon EVERY bootup, but enough that it is very annoying), I go to the RH site and read up on window managers. This is what the site says (not verbatim):

"Enlightenment is currently the only 100% Gnome compliant window manager."

So I just installed Enlightenment and boom! everything is working fine. Here's the rhetorical question (although you're welcome to answer it if you have an insight on this subject):

WHY WOULD REDHAT HAVE SAWFISH AS THE DEFAULT WINDOW MANAGER IF IT IS NOT 100% GNOME COMPLIANT????????

Not sure on that one. I am running GNOME with Sawfish as my default Window manager with no problems.

HELP!!

I've downloaded the newest version of Redhat 7.2 a few hours ago. After an installation on a blank system Sawfish strikes back with the answer "Warning you are not running a Gnome compliant windows manager etc etc."

PLEASE HELP ME!

I don't like any other Windowmanager. AND I HATE KDE!!! Sorry.

well... as far as running a gnome-compliant wm goes... it's not really that important. there might be a bit of a problem that you need to use one option or another if you try to change backgrounds... but it's not going to crash the system or anything.

i seriously think that gnome puts that message in there just to bug developers into keeping compliancy. it's annoying... but it's not serious.

you may have missed something in the install. I have installed 7.1 and 7.2 several times with no problems.
Used Gnome with sawfish as default window manager.
