Cool Noob: Wvdial problem

I set my linux partition so that it boots into runlevel 3 (I hope to learn more linux this way). I managed to set up wvdial under root (which is an accomplishment that I'm quite proud of ). I can dial to my isp from root but when I try it with my personal account then it tells me that the modem is busy. Is there some small thing that I'm overlooking. Thanks for your help.

You can change some permissions on files to get it to run as a normal user.
Things like: /etc/ppp/pap-secrets, the lock file in /var/lock (the directory might need changing), /dev/ttyS(x) etc.

#visudo

User_Alias NETUSERS=foo1,foo2,foo3 #use ur username(s) here

Cmnd_Alias CONNECTPROG=/usr/bin/wvdial

NETUSERS ALL=NOPASSWD:CONNECTPROG

now save the file
and all the users in NETUSERS will be able to connect without furnishing
the root password.

#sudo wvdial

see also : man visudo,man sudoers,man sudo

HTH

P.S.
