Did you set a root partition when it was in the formating part of the install?

MasterC 07-14-2002 02:46 AM

You will need to know your root partition, so go into your 8.1 and type mount, it will show you where / is mounted. something like:
/dev/hdb1 / ext2 defaults 0 0

You want to know what the "/dev/hdb1" portion actually reads as.

when i try and boot up mandrake it says..
Mount: error 6 mounting ext2 flags kernel panic : no init found. Try passing init= option to kernel.

It looks like your only option is to do a clean install of MDK 8.2.

If you have any data files that you want to keep that were on you MDK 8.1 installation, you can boot with an emergency boot disk (either one you created under MDK 8.1 or something like Tom's boot disk) and then find and copy/save your data files.
